Shopify destination wizard
Pick a destination, then work through the HS code, country of origin and shipping profile fields in order. The customs fields are written into Shopify after you review every change. For the reasoning behind each rule, read the customs and tax by country guide.
Where are you shipping to?
The code length and origin evidence differ by destination. Pick the one you want to get right first, then repeat the wizard for the next market.
This is general information to help you set up your product data. It is not legal or customs advice, rules change, and classification is specific to your goods. Confirm current requirements with the official tariff linked here and with your carrier or a licensed customs broker.
Common questions
- Does the wizard change my products?
- Only the HS code and country of origin fields, and only after you review the exact list of old and new values and confirm the write. Nothing else in the product is touched.
- Can it set shipping profiles for me?
- Not yet. Shipping profiles stay read only, so the last step walks the checks to make in Shopify shipping settings for the destination you picked.
- How many digits should the HS code be?
- Six digits is the international base and is accepted in every destination that uses the Harmonized System. Store a longer national code only when a carrier or broker has asked you for it on a specific lane.
